Experiment 1.1 'Work' My practice is concerned with investigating the unconscious, ordinary and overlooked aspects of everyday life. Exchanges that leave no lasting trace, invisible and ephemeral in nature. I am interested in drawing attention to these moments, magnifying their subtle rhythms, and mapping out their intrinsic logic. By highlighting the obvious, the most mundane and the most repeated actions the work proposes new perspectives or parallel realities. This parallel space acts as a means through which these events can be investigated and transformed. My practice draws on qualities of scientific experimentation and play as a means of approach. Experiment 1.1 'Work' comes together as a series of ongoing experiments. The work looks to investigate the subtle forces of tension and pressure using everyday materials, balloons, latex, collapsing frames, pipes, rubber bands, bicycle pumps and weights. Within the installation these materials are manipulated, counteracted and at times intensified. In order to achieve this, the structure is made up of a series of exchanges between the materials; these exchanges (weight, pressure, force, balance) create a dialogue, where each element is reliant on another to maintain its equilibrium within the structure.
